Happy Birthday..... Dr. Seuss!!!
On Mar.2, 2004, Dr. Seuss' 100th birthday will be celebrated across the US in conjunction with Read Across America Day. Theodor S. Geisel (better known as Dr. Seuss) is probably the most widely recognized children's author in history, having written 44 books that have sold 500 million copies and 2 that were made into movies. Everyone young and old loves the whimsical animals that make up the many colorful characters in his childrens books.
The illustration artprints from his books were created using the original printmaking technique of Lithography. These were made using a slab of limestone or treated metal plate to transfer an image to a piece of paper with a high pressure press. The illustrative artist is Dr. Suess himself.
